About the Author
Edward Yourdon is an independent management consultant, author, and the widely known developer of the "Yourdon method" of structured systems analysis and design. He is the author of over one hundred technical articles. Currently, Mr. Yourdon is the publisher of the newsletter, The American Programmer, and speaks regularly at major computer conferences around the world.

Good high-level overview

This book presents a general overview of OO design. As the back cover says, it is not aimed at the pure developer but more at the manager or systems-level designer/team leader. It would also make a good textbook for an "Introductory to OO design" class.
Two example situations are detailed - one a real-time system and the other a typical data-oriented system. While the analysis of each is thorough and well detailed, I think Mr. Yourdon wasted time by comparing different notational conventions.
Overall I liked the book, but I felt that more detail could have been included without alienating the intended high-level audience.
