He holds a Ph.D. degree in Mathematics from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem and an MS degree in Computer Science from the University of Kentucky.� Introduction to the Design and Analysis of Algorithms has been translated into Chinese, Russian, Greek, and Korean and is used in hundreds of schools all over the world.� Dr. Levitin is also the author of Algorithmic Puzzles, publishing in Fall 2011.

Dr. Levitin teaches courses in the Design and Analysis of Algorithms at Villanova University.

Horrible!!

Author made a mess trying to explain the algorithm concepts using the real world examples. No depth in material. Not a single algorithm is covered in depth. No clarity in explaining the concepts. Lots of inconsistencies !!

Solid, unique approach to algorithms

Levitin approaches this broad topic by focusing on design methods first, rather than application. After a brief introduction to efficiency analysis, he moves into elementary methods such as brute force, divide-and-conquer, etc. before broaching more difficult ideas like dynamic programming and greedy technique. In each chapter, most classes of problems that can be solved with the technique are at least mentioned, if not explained in some detail. As a beginner to computer science but having a good amount of programming experience, I was able to pick up the ideas from this book better than from my professor. Bear in mind that this book does not discuss implementation at all, but most algorithms are designed with a C-like or procedural style; you may want to follow up with a book more focused on OO design techniques if you are implementing with C++ or Java. As another reviewer mentioned, there are no solutions to the exercises, but I did find the hints helpful on a few occasions. The solution manual was provided to us by our instructor electronically. The only other complaint is the relatively high cost; this is not a book I plan to keep around for reference due to its limited scope. Nonetheless, as a solid introduction to the field, I found it to be indispensable in my algorithms course.

Had to buy it for a class. Things are detailed and spelled out. Excellent text book. Lots of filler to go through, but everything you need is there.

Of minimal value

Now I know why you don't get to see a sample page or two, because you would be able to see if it fits your needs. I'm not returning the item as there are two or three pages of material that I have found useful - three out of fifty is just 6%. I should have taken the advise of other reviewers but as a new nursing student I was desperate for a guide in writing nursing notes.

Little Guide

I just received this guide and was surprised at how little it is. The size is about 4.25"x7" and it only has 50 pages (double-sided... which means it only has about 25 papers in here). However, that being said, I do really like the nursing notes examples and think it will be a great resource. I deducted a star because I don't think the size and amount of info. is aligned with the price... it should not be this expensive.

very helpful before you get on the floor.

I would recommend this book for any nurse, but new grads will really benefit. I am a returning nurse and had forgotten how to communicate effectively, it's a language that I had forgotten. Very useful book. Even with computer charting, helps with the DAR notes and Clinical Notes.

fast paced, well written sci-fi

I loved this book and could not put it down. It was very imaginative but blended in historical truths with the fictional side of the story which made it feel more authentic. The characters were well thought out and believable as they stretched your own imagination to match the story. A very enjoyable read and I cannot wait for the sequel.

“The Displaced” explores the perils of a society motivated by profit. Reminiscent of “Brave New World” by Aldous Huxley where the medicated masses are nothing more than compliant, expendable worker bees serving the elite, “The Displaced” cautions against the self serving interests of big business.

The story is plausible and entertaining and I look forward to reading the next book in the series!

Great reminder to be about the Lord's business & not focus on finding a man!

I really enjoyed reading a "real" Christian book on being single while waiting for my husband to find me. The book is a great reminder to stay busy for the Lord vs searching or being overly concerned with finding a husband. I loved the "personal confessions" and "man facts." I cannot even tell you how many pages I bookmarked (I have the Kindle Edition). I enjoyed the book so much that I purchased the paperback edition for my sister. I am also thinking of getting one for my 20-year-old niece.

The references to the book of Ruth were really on point! So many times Christian books don't provide a reference point and I end up feeling like I'm just reading someone opinion. As the book points out - it what God says that matters. There were some parts of the book that stepped on my toes, which was a good thing. It really made me think about my past relationships (marriage) and I was able to "see" where I was out of God's will and just doing what I wanted to do, even though I was saying and thinking I was in God's will.

Read this book with an open heart and allow it to minister to you. You will see yourself, your friends, and your relatives relationships in this book. So much biblical food for thought.

This book is totally worth the read. I encourage single women, dating women, and even married women to read this! It really puts into perspective the role we as women must take for our husbands. No matter what stage of life you are in, you can get something from this book! Just be ready to really be tested and changed. If you read it with open eyes and an open heart you will be drastically changed in your walk with God and who you are as a daughter of The King!

Can an investor end up with money in their pocket and not have to put 10-20% down to purchase real estate? Yes. This technique is used commonly today by the most successful real estate investors.

The lease option strategy gives an investor the right to lease a home and also the right to purchase the home during or before the end of the lease period. An option is a contract that gives an optionee the right to exercise a privilege -- and in the case of real estate investing, it gives the optionee (investor) the right to purchase property during a contracted period of time. It is a technique that involves gaining ‘control' of a property, without the total burdens of ownership.

ALL money made in real estate is made by controlling property. Owning property is the most obvious way to control it, but control is possible without ownership -- and control is what makes the money. It was a dying John D. Rockefeller who told all of us his secret to achieving great wealth, "Control everything, own nothing." All of the most successful real estate developers today utilize options, in one form or another.

A sandwich lease option involves the investor selling the home to a tenant buyer through "sandwiching" themselves in the middle of the deal.
